Cowboy Killers Lamp

EXCITING UPDATE😜 Cowboy killers have been a huge part of Desert Willow Glass since the start. This is the start of a new phase of Cowboy Killers (CBK) 💡 The original vase style will be phasing out, and moving forward they will be lamps with inline switches! 

Dimensions from the original vase style have been slightly altered to accommodate the light fixture, but they are still roughly the size of a Marlboro box. As always, the front face lettering is etched into the surface so you can actually feel the text in the glass. 

New lamp style CBK’s have an open bottom with rubber feet (cord feeds through the gap) and has a top cover - unlike the vase style. 

What are cowboy killers? What does this mean?

This design is Inspired by Marlboro cigarettes & the iconic Marlboro Man campaign that ran from 1954 to 1999. 5 of the Marlboro men suffered smoking related deaths & the nickname for Marlboro reds, “cowboy killers” emerged. Interesting wiki read if you wanna know more! 

How it’s made

Each piece of glass is cut to size, grinded down to a perfect fit, & wrapped in copper foil tape before being soldered together. The cover plate lettering is done by carefully applying a stencil & acid etching cream - this gives a light texture to the glass, so you’re able to feel the lettering, think of frosted glass! I then buff an acrylic enamel paint that is cured in the oven for a durable & long lasting result.

I have developed this method through a ton of experimenting, it isn’t the quickest lettering option but I really wanted to be able to feel it, have it be one with the glass (aka no vinyl stickers) & i’ve found this method also gives me a result that kinda looks like a heat brand!
